I have never thought so thin a book which is called The Catcher in the Rye can influence me so much. It makes me feel very impressive. And after reading this book, I have aroused many thoughts about it.

In today’s literature world, The Catcher in the Rye is to be recognized as a modern classic. After reading this book, adults can increase the understanding of teenagers; young people can increase the understanding of their future life. No matter whom after reading this book will improve their ability about to be vigilant against the reality. It also can make you choose one self-reliance way to your future easily.

This book told us a profound significance story. The leading character of this novel Holden hated all the hypocritical things and really wanted to pursuit the pure reality at first. Because of the development of his society, he finally submits to the development process of the social reality. It deeply show the loneliness, loss, pain of younger generation which is grow up after the World War II in U.S.

Well, I think that though Holden used to seeing the reality of Bourgeois society, and he must compromise with realistic society in the end, he also have many courage to have a try to rebel against the hypocritical world. This spirit should be set up if we want to improve the process of the world.

Now, we live in a country, which is in great reformation, and everything in the process of changing development. Well, with the development of our country; people's thought also is in the change. At the same time, many people’s thoughts start confusion and depression. They forgotten their initial dreams and have no enthusiasm gradually. So, in the end, they began to yearn for mediocrity and have nothing to do.

Perhaps we can learn from this book to find our own shadow. To a certain extent that it reflects many characteristics of the adolescents, and we can also see the dark side of the society. With the material’s progress, the spiritual world is inevitably producing some changes. At that time, what we need is a change which can make our dream into a reality. Therefore, what we should do is not to hope, not to wait, not to complain, but from now on, just start from your own efforts and watch your initial dream. You’d try your best to create the life you want with your own hands.

其实做一个快乐的“麦田里的守望者”,每天都是很简单看无忧无虑的孩童,自己的责任就是呵护他们,留住那一分属于自己的纯净的快乐还有那甜美单纯的笑容。故事就是一个在那样的一个特殊年代里仍旧保留着最可贵的单纯的孩子!

五六十年代的美国其实是一个相当混乱的时期,一方面科学技术发展速度快,另一方面,与之相反的人们缺乏理想,志气低落,在复杂纷乱的社会背景下没有能力自己的现状,生活的窘迫令人震惊难以想象。特殊的时期,“一代人的崩溃”出现时,霍顿就是他们中的一员,他学会了抽烟还不停的酗酒,心中失去了努力的方向,但是,他仍然还是有希望的,因为在他的底部心,仍然有一个美丽的理想和偏远的所有时间---执行“观赏者在麦田” 。

教育应该是“顺性而为”,主要在于引导而非强制。孩子之所以能够无拘无束地做游戏,首先在于主人公首先给他们建造了一个释放童心,张扬个性的精神家园——麦田,或者允许孩子们进入麦田,却有很多的规定。这样孩子们兴趣达不到极限,也不会有自由精神,更不会有创新精神,甚至会觉得恐喝。

为了保护孩子,不让他们掉下悬崖,他还渴望终生做一个“麦田里的守望者”,发出“拯救孩子”的呼声。可是,愤世嫉俗的思想所引起的消极反抗,还有那敏感、好奇、焦躁不安,想发泄、易冲动的青春期心理,又使得他厌倦读书,不求上进,追求刺激,玩世不恭;他抽烟、酗酒、打架。他觉得老师、父母要他读书上进,无非是要他“出人头地„„以便将来可以买辆混帐凯迪拉克”。

教育的成功的智慧在于找到支点,使学生的能力发展和生命成长。守望者并不是一名游戏的旁观者,而是敏感地发现了游戏中的关键点——悬崖,守候于此有四两拨千斤的功效。这不正是我们所谓的

抓住契机吗?智者与方法变是无形的支点。

我觉得这些老师是有所指代的,老师本应作为社会的教育者,但是他们自己的不良导致了教出来的学生是那个样子,作者无疑对于社会的教育制度也是带着批判的眼光的。

“守望”是一种习惯,一种智慧,更是一种境界,一种品质。为了学生的成长,教育需要更多“麦田守望者”。

一切都只是暂时的,不知道过去,我们现在最需要的,这是我们的理想。

读《麦田里的守望者》有感

《麦田里的守望者》是美国作家杰罗姆·大卫·塞林格唯一的一部长篇小说,享年91岁,一九一九年生于美国纽约城,父亲是做奶酪和火腿进口生意的犹太商人,家境相当富裕。塞林格十五岁的时候,被父母送到宾夕法尼亚州一个军事学校里住读,据说《麦田里的守望者》中关于寄宿学校的描写,很大部分是以那所学校为背景的,一九三六年,塞林格在军事学校毕业,取得了他毕生唯一的一张文凭。从一九四零年在《小说》杂志上发表他的头一个短篇小说起,到一九五一年出版他的长篇小说《麦田里的守望者》止,在十余年中他共发表了二十多个短篇,有些短篇还在《老爷》、《纽约人》等著名刊物上发表,使他在文学界有了一点点名气。而《麦田里的守望者》则使他一举成名。主人公霍尔顿是当代美国文学中最早出现的反英雄形象,这一形象尤其得到青少年的普遍认同。一时间,就像模仿少年维特一样,模仿霍尔顿的言语行动和穿着,成了当时的一种时尚。从《麦田里的守望者》出版后,他写作的进度越来越慢,十年只出版三个中篇和一个短篇,后来甚至不再发表作品。《麦田里的守望者》是关于16、17岁的青少年在离开学校后在社会上游荡三天所经历的和内心所感受的,作者赛林格借鉴了意识流天马行空的写作方法,充分探索了一个十几岁少年的内心世界。主人公的经历和思想在青少年中引起强烈共鸣,受到读者,特别是大中学生的热烈欢迎。《纽约时报》的书评写道:在美国,阅读《麦田里的守望者》就像毕业要获得导师的首肯一样重要。其后,《麦田里的守望者》直接影响了这一类小说的创作。

刚看到这个书名时我以为这本书写的是关于一个麦田守望者与命运抗争得到成功之类的故事,即使是和命运五官也是要与成败有关的。当我看完这本书的时候,我知道自己想错了,但是我并没有明白作者究竟想写的是什么,我没有看懂这个16、17的少年霍尔顿·考尔菲尔德的世界究竟是怎样的。我所看到的是:他生活得很迷茫;他的考试都挂掉了;他被自己的高中退学了;他的弟弟死了;他所喜欢的女孩和自己的同学约会;他不知道该如何适应当时的社会;他讨厌周围的一切事物;他认为他身边的人和事物多充满了虚伪和欺骗;他想要离开自己现在所处的环境去一个没有人认识他的地方重新生活,但当他离开时她的妹妹菲

比想和她一起走,却最总没有走成。

我其实现在同霍尔顿一样,我刚刚步入大学,对未来的美好生活充满着向往,但也存在着困惑和迷惘,我需要学着成长,需要学着去规划自己的未来,我不会像霍尔顿一样的生活。生活需要抗争,需要我们无畏的前行,了解自己未来的前进方向,只有如此我们才能创造出属于自己的一片天地。

有那么一群小孩子在一大块麦田里做游戏。几千几万个小孩子,附近没有一个人——没有一个大人,我是说——除了我。我呢,就站在那混帐的悬崖边。我的职务是在那儿守望,要是有哪个孩子往悬崖边奔来,我就把他捉住——我是说孩子们都在狂奔,也不知道自己是在往哪儿跑,我得从什么地方出来,把他们捉住。我整天就干这样的事。我只想当个麦田里的守望者。

我想我与《麦田守望者》这本书真的很有缘,以至于我能在初读没有读完的情况下隔了半年继续读完。第一次读这本书只是觉得主人公很罗嗦而且很粗鄙,然而促使我第二次继续读它的原因则是因为不断的有人向我提起霍尔顿,提起守望者。

主人公是16岁的中学生霍尔顿〃考尔德。霍尔顿出身于纽约一个富裕的中产阶级家庭。学校里的老师和自己的家长强迫他好好读书,为的是出人头地,以便将来买辆凯迪拉克,而他在学校里一天到晚所干的,就是谈女人、酒和性,他看不惯周围的一切, 根本没心思用功读书,因而老是挨罚,到他第四次被开除时,他不敢回家。便只身在美国最繁华的纽约城游荡了一天两夜,住小客店,逛夜总会,滥交女友,他在电影院里百无聊赖地消磨时光,糊里糊涂地召了妓女,情不自禁的与虚荣的女友搂搂抱抱,与此同时,他的内心又十分苦闷,企图逃出虚伪的成人世界,去寻找纯洁和真理。这种精神上无法调和的极度矛盾最终令他彻底崩溃,躺倒在精神病院里。

这个故事的结局并不是我所期望的那样,而除此之外我也难找到更为合适的结局。但我坚持认为,他应该是逃离了那一个混沌的环境的。因为他是那么纯洁而善良的一个男孩子。他不堪忍受学校里同学们下流的言论和校长的势利眼,他因担心自己喜欢的女孩跟自己那些思想肮脏的同学约会,而被同学打得满脸血污,他虽然不喜欢学习,但是在被学校开除后却很孝顺的想到自己的妈妈会因此伤心而不停烦恼,这是他的真;他会在修女为受难者募捐时慷慨解囊,这是他的善。他会在无家可归的时候记着给妹妹买一张她喜欢的唱片。在妹妹老菲比的学校里见到墙上的下流字眼,会很气愤的抹去,生怕这些字眼会污染了小孩子们纯洁的心灵。他会在火车上、在出租车上想着公园人工湖里的鸭子,

他甚至担心冬天来了那些可怜的鸭子要飞向哪里,这是他的美。他是一个孩子,一个活在垃圾堆里的天使。但是遗憾的是他没有一对翅膀,所以他离不开那里。我很难想像他从精神病院里出来后会以怎样的一种心情来面对社会,是如他的同学一样为将来买辆凯迪拉克而好好读书,还是不断的离家出走?我不敢想像。

霍尔顿有一颗脆弱敏锐的心灵,这让他对社会和生活有更深层次的体验,但同时,这样的心灵让他在这庸俗、虚伪的世道上难以适应,让他体验了更多的痛苦。从学校里出走,不仅没使他逃离肮脏的环境,反而使他更加逼近于社会的黑暗,象是戴上了放大镜去看苍蝇的腿毛,以至于霍尔顿不愿意回忆那段经历。

之所以喜欢霍尔顿,是因为他的敏感、好奇、焦躁、不安、想发泄、易冲动的个性,这些是我以及身边的男孩子们都具有的。他是我们心情的真实写照。他做的事情都是我们想做而又不敢做的。我想我身边的男孩子们大抵也有着和他一样的心情吧。他们不甘于为了出人头地,以便将来买辆凯迪拉克而读书,他们看不惯周围人的虚伪与势利,他们看不惯在公交车上年轻人不给老人让座,看不惯贪官受贿,看不惯自己的同学被别人欺负。总之,他们是正义的善良的。他们可以因为成绩不好而被父母老师嘲骂而不吭一声,但是不会忍受其他人对自己及亲人的一句嘲讽。他们是孝顺的。但是,没有人理解他们。

我是一个女孩,所以我也不可能很透彻的了解一个男孩的想法。可是我看的到他们的迷茫与悲伤。我的哥哥就是与霍尔顿很相像的男孩。他小时候是个顽皮的孩子,直到18岁,他依然很不懂事。自从我有记忆起,就记得不断的有家长领着孩子来我家找我父母告他的状。初中三年他依然是个问题学生,喝酒,打架,没有理由的讨厌女生。中考结束后,他只去了一个中专,学的是兽医专业。四年的学习,没有给他带来任何的改变以及教益。我记得有一次,我在我家的门口看到一只流浪狗,那狗很虚弱的样子,我问哥哥那只狗怎么了,他摸了摸那狗说那只狗有心脏病,我当时为这只狗伤心了半天,于是给了那只狗很多吃的,结果那只狗吃了东西后撒开腿就跑了。那个时候开始,我就知道他这个学校是白上了。而实际上,我还真的说对了,他上到最后一年的时候因为打架差点被学校劝退。我父母把他接了回来,他们责怪他的不懂事,而他只是躺在床上不吃不喝不说话。周五我从寄宿的学校回家后发现他正在我房间的电脑前写博客,电脑旁的烟灰缸里堆满了烟蒂,他就在满屋的烟雾里默默的流泪。他见我进去吃了一惊,然而他很快的对我说:“告诉爸妈,我不想上了。”这的确出乎我的意料,我问他他想干什么,他说当兵或是怎样都好,他只是想离开那个垃圾学校。我不知道那个学校与我所在的高中相比有多么的不堪,但是显然那不是个好地方。在那所学校读了3年,他除了为人更加圆滑外真的没有任何收益。所以,我甚至觉得他所做的选择是个挺明智的选择。但是我的父母坚

持认为,一个孩子如果不去上学是件很丢人的事情。所以,事情最后以他的提前实习而暂时落幕。在不到一个月的时间里,他一下瘦了许多,以至于我都心疼了。那个月里,他房间的灯总是会亮到很晚,他的房间的地上总是有许多的烟蒂。我那个时候才真的发现他已经长大了,不再是个顽皮的孩子了。我偷偷的看了他的博客,他竟然也在那里提到了《麦田的守望者》,他说他的学校甚至比霍尔顿的学校更加肮脏,他没法继续呼吸那里的空气,他快要窒息了。在那里“人人还在搞下流的小集团,打篮球的抱成一团,天主教徒抱成一团,那般混帐的书呆子抱成一团,打桥牌的抱成一团。连那些参加他妈的什么混帐读书会的家伙也抱成一团。”所以,他不想继续呆在那里。他说他甚至羡慕霍尔顿,至少他还敢出走,但是他不行,那么多事情都是他自己搞出来的,他不能把这些事情推给父母而自己逃之夭夭。他说他也想象霍尔顿说的那样,做一个麦田的守望者,他想牢牢的看住那些在悬崖边奔跑的孩子,他会守在悬崖边,谁要是向悬崖边跑来,他就会一把抓住那个孩子,把他扔回麦田里。他说,遗憾的是,他连自己都管不好,怎么有能力来守望别人呢?

我不知道,我的哥哥是以怎样的一种心情写下那些文字,是苦涩还是无奈,我都不想去问,我知道他定是象霍尔顿一样不愿去回忆那些往事。我不知道我的哥哥他在那个垃圾学校里挣扎的时候有没有像霍尔顿一样想起他的妹妹,虽然我没有老菲比那么的可爱,甚至我还曾那么深的误会他。可是,当我看到他博客里那些苦涩的文字时,我发誓,我的确为自己对他的误会而惭愧内疚。我想,正如他所说,我的确还是个单纯的孩子,所以我不会懂得他的世界,不会知道他的田野里生长的是金黄的麦子还是荒芜的杂草,更不会知道在他的世界里有没有一个麦田守望者。

很多时候我都希望像霍尔顿所说的那样做个麦田的守望者,用心去守护身边的人,可是我也只能是想想罢了。我和我哥哥以及所有的同龄人一样,我们都在忍受着这个社会,我们要为了成人眼中的事业而放弃自己的理想,为了能尽快回家而忍受汽车司机的粗鲁谩骂;我们要接受这个世界上还有人吃不饱穿不暖而有的人却用牛排喂狗的现实;我们甚至要接受自己以前的同学因为贫穷而去出卖肉体的事实!社会,社会根本没有父母口中所说的那么光明。成年人总是希望自己的孩子只看到社会的美好,但是,他们不知道这个社会的真实与黑暗一面是那么真切的存在着,那是怎样的谎言与欺骗都难以遮掩的。我们这些“孩子”总是希望自己能成为一个别人的守望者来拯救别人,而实际上,我们更希望当我们冲向那混帐悬崖的那一刹那,会有那么一位守望者从不知名的地方冲出来,截住我们。都说我们是祖国的花朵,可是一朵花要开放也要有可以根植的田野啊!

我学了几年的政治了,如果从政治哲学的角度说我最大的感受那就是:“人

活在这个世界上只能以自己的主观意识为出发点,一点一点的将理想变为客观事实,而不能让客观世界主动的变为你的主观理想。”所以,即使我们尽自己的努力去改变这个世界,也是要经历N年的时间的。因此我们只能尽力而为。我们的躁动的青春里没有那个尽职的麦田守望者,但是我希望有朝一日我可以成为其他孩子的麦田守望者,希望我可以守住他的梦想,使他保持一颗纯洁善良的心去追求美好事物,而不是将自己逐渐熏染成一个虚伪做作的人来适应成人社会。

我想我会有那么一片麦田,我的麦田里的孩子们,他们“有一颗纯洁善良,追求美好生活和崇高理想的童心,容纳不了社会中一颗丑陋的沙子,即便是极小的一粒也无法忍受,拒绝承受,在他眼中的社会应该像湖水一样的清澈澄莹,对那些热衷于谈女人和酒的人十分反感,对校长的虚伪势利非常厌恶,看到墙上的下流字眼便忿忿擦去,遇到修女为难者募捐便慷慨解囊,他会对妹妹百般照顾,如同一个生活在地狱的天使,他的心柔软的如同云朵,轻轻一挤便会滴下晶莹的水珠一样,他也渴望做一个终生的“麦田守望者”。他希望自己做一个麦田的守望者,实际上是希望在他冲向那混帐悬崖的那一刹那,会有那么一位守望者从不知名的地方冲出来,截住他。

那天去书店,我从一大堆世界名著中挑了一本很薄的书,名字叫《麦田里的守望者》,在我拿起这本书时,我没有想到这么薄的一本书会对我产生这么大的影响,使我感触很深,我觉得这本书的形式和内容都很出色。

美国的五十年代是一个相当混乱的时期,二战的阴云尚未散去,冷战硝烟又起。一方面科技发展迅速,而另一方面,人们缺乏理想,意志消沉,在自己无力改变的社会大背景下,过着混混噩噩的生活。于是,"垮掉的一代"出现了,霍尔顿就是其中的一员,他抽烟酗酒,不求上进,但是,他还不至于沦落到吸毒,群居的地步,因为在他心底,一直还存有美丽而遥远的理想---做一个"麦田里的守望者"。

我们生活的这个国度,这个时代正处于巨大的变革之中,一切都在日新月异的发展。从某种意义上说,这与50年代的美国确实有些相象。社会不断进步,人们的思想观念也在发生变化,很多人开始迷茫,消沉,他们逐渐遗忘自己的理想,没有了最初的热情,开始向往平庸。

我们是一群生活在新时代的孩子,自然已经习惯了困惑和烦恼,但是我们应该集中精神看准我们的前方,我们的路,我们应该是一群有理想有抱负的人。假如霍尔顿没有他纯洁的理想,那他就会堕落到底,是他的理想让他活下来。理想是人的指路明灯,它带着人走向未来,走向光明。我们的人生才刚刚开始,纵然生活让我们这代人有些迷惘和彷徨,但一切不过是暂时的,不就都会过去,我们现在最需要的,就是我们的理想。

是的,有理想就有希望,希望就在明天,明天会更美好!

我认为这么多年来,中国读者还忽略了一个重要的问题:作者在变相呼吁社会教育改革!同时用主人公的身影塑造了自己认为的一种模式。至于这部小说是否影响了美国教育体制的改革,我们无从知道,我想美国社会接受这位作家的时候,也就说明是一种默认!现在西方教学方式正被许多私人教育学校在中国到处宣传,这不仅仅是光为了挣钱,而是从另一个侧面发出的一种唤醒!

我们所教的孩子,不也受着折磨吗?老师严厉地批评,严肃的表情,让孩子们身心疲惫,讨厌上学。于是就有了不做作业,逃学等现象。学生负担过重,社会给老师的压力越来越大,压力又转嫁给学生,哪一天又有学生去当“麦田的守望者”,那不是教育的悲哀吗?

作为老师,我们真的要去善待学生,去尊重他们,让他们爱学习,至少不讨厌上学。

百般无聊的周末,看书是最好的选择了!翻开一本书,整个人立马沉浸在它所描写的意境之中,无比的惬意。不记得哪个周末,无意间翻起书柜里那本搁置很久的大学好友送我的毕业礼物------《麦田里的守望者》,这着实给了我一些不言而喻的感动。

读完这本书,一个少年形象出现在我的脑海中——他是大人们眼中的坏孩子,因为他所作的、所想的一切都“不像话”,他的成绩也是那样的糟糕,几乎没有人喜欢他。他是青春期的少年代表,与家长之间存在着不可磨灭的代沟,家长总希望他像哥哥一样可以成为出人头地的人,可是他的理想也只是做一个麦田里的守望者,站在悬崖上,捉住不断奔跑的孩子。他就是全书的主人公-------霍尔顿。

大人总认为霍尔顿是一个败家子,是一个不良少年。可他有自己的思想,在他那半成熟的心中有着一个梦想,即使它在那污浊的世道显得那样的细微渺小。他伫立在悬崖上,凝视着麦田里游戏的孩子的形象,在我心里渐渐放大……

霍尔顿的朴素和善良,在他所在的年代很少的,或许他的有些思想还比较幼稚,或许他有许许多多的缺点,但他反抗现实、向往美好世界的纯洁的一面是难能可贵的。

现实之中的我们,是否也有过苦闷、踌躇和彷徨?是否也会有自己的心事也只能被自己扛着的时候?是否在落寞时也会用一些不切实际的幻想安慰自己?也许每个人的内心深处都有脆弱的一面,支撑我们勇往直前,内心强大的一定是心中的那个坚定不移的梦想。人,总要有或大或小的梦想。只有我们有了梦想,有了向往美好世界的梦想。才会拥有勇往直前、努力向上的动力和毅力。有梦,就要坚守。只有坚守梦想,永不言弃,梦想终会实现! 能坚守梦想的人是可敬的,能坚守梦想的人是伟大的。让梦想带领我们前行,照亮我们的人生。

When Holden arrives at Mr. Antolini’s, Mr. Antolini and his wife have just wrapped up a dinner party in their upscale Sutton Place apartment. Glasses and dishes are everywhere, and Holden can tell that Mr. Antolini has been drinking. Holden takes a seat, and the two begin talking. As Mrs. Antolini prepares coffee, Mr. Antolini inquires about Holden’s expulsion from Pencey Prep. Holden reveals that he

disliked the rules and regulations at Pencey Prep. As an example, he mentions his debate class in which students were penalized for digressing from their subject. Holden argues that digressions are more interesting. Instead of offering complete sympathy, Mr. Antolini gently challenges Holden, pointing out that digressions are often distracting, and that sometimes it is more interesting and appropriate to stick to the topic. Holden begins to see the weakness of his argument and becomes uncomfortable. But Mrs. Antolini cuts the tension, bringing coffee for Holden and Mr. Antolini before going to bed.

After this respite, Mr. Antolini resumes the discussion on a much more serious note. He tells Holden that he is worried about him because he seems primed for a major fall, a fall that will leave him frustrated and embittered against the rest of the world, particularly against the sort of boys he hated at school. At this suggestion Holden becomes defensive and argues that he actually, after a while, grows to semi-like guys like Ackley and Stradlater. After an awkward silence, Mr. Antolini further explains the “fall” he is envisioning, saying that it is experienced by men who cannot deal with the environment around them. But he tells Holden that if he applies himself in school, he will learn that many men and women have been similarly disturbed and troubled by the human condition, and he will also learn a great deal about his own mind. Holden seems

interested in what Mr. Antolini has to say, but he is exhausted. Finally, he is unable to suppress a yawn. Mr. Antolini chuckles, makes up the couch, and, after some small talk about girls, lets Holden go to sleep.

Suddenly, Holden wakes up; he feels Mr. Antolini’s hand stroking his head. Mr. Antolini claims it was nothing, but Holden believes Mr. Antolini is making a homosexual advance and hurries out of the apartment.

Analysis

At first, Mr. Antolini seems to offer Holden his only chance of making a

sympathetic connection with an adult. Holden respects his teacher’s intelligence and seems legitimately interested in Mr. Antolini’s lecture about finding “what size mind you have.” It is significant that Holden consistently refers to his former teacher as “Mr. Antolini,” whereas he refers to Mr. Spencer as “old Spencer” or

“Spencer.” But a subtly menacing undercurrent runs through Holden’s description of his time at the Antolinis’: the unwashed glasses from the dinner party, Mrs. Antolini’s unattractive appearance without her makeup, and Mr. Antolini’s excessive drinking all contribute to a feeling of discomfort that Holden never

explicitly acknowledges. When Holden wakes to find Mr. Antolini stroking his head, he snaps. The pressure of his surging sexual feelings, combined with the nervous homophobia he exhibited around Carl Luce, make Mr. Antolini’s gesture more than he can handle, and he leaves Mr. Antolini’s apartment awkwardly and hastily. The question of whether Mr. Antolini really made a homosexual advance on Holden is much more complicated than Holden implies. Holden might be right—Antolini’s inquiries about Holden’s girlfriends and the fact that he calls Holden “handsome” as he wishes him goodnight could be read as flirtatious advances. But it seems far more likely that Mr. Antolini’s gesture was simply a tipsy sign of affection for a student in obvious pain, a student in whom Mr. Antolini sensed something fragile and genuine. But, as with everything else, Holden is rash and uncompromising in his interpretation of his teacher’s behavior, and, with that rash interpretation, all of Holden’s trust and faith in Mr. Antolini vanish. Mr. Antolini is clearly a more complex and multidimensional character than Holden makes him out to be. But, as we have already seen, what little stability Holden has left depends on his maintaining an oversimplified worldview—he cannot tolerate motives that are at all ambiguous. Throughout the scene, we remain as puzzled as Holden is as to what is really going on, which allows us to empathize with Holden in the crisis he experiences as a result of the encounter.

The fact that Mr. Antolini is trying to prevent Holden from “a fall” obviously parallels Holden’s image of the “catcher in the rye.” Yet, Mr. Antolini is a very different kind of catcher from the one Holden envisioned, and the type of fall he describes is different from the one Holden imagines. Holden fantasizes about

protecting children from adulthood and sexuality (see Chapter 25), but Mr. Antolini describes the more frightening fall that will come if Holden himself refuses to grow up. Holden maintains an idealized view of childhood, and simplified view of adulthood, in order to justify his withdrawal from society. He resists intimacy because the complexities of real-world relationships collapse his simplistic perspective. Mr. Antolini’s trenchant criticism forces Holden to see his own problems, while the ambiguity of his motives force him to encounter the

complexity and ambiguity of the adult world. As such, he is beginning to see the trap of painful loneliness and isolation he has created for himself with his largely self-imposed alienation.

The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O'Hara,a 16-year-old girl,who was living in Tala manor in Georgia,was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes.However,after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didn‟t really love---- Charles Hamilton.Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.Having come back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.Later,her second husband died in the fight,she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married

him.Although Rhett had similar characteristic attracting her,Scarlett still loved Ashley.Later,their only daughter died accidently,Rhett left Scarlett sorrowly.And then Scarlett realized that Rhett was the only one who could fall in love with her.

The novel takes the US Civil War as the background.It takes Scarlett‟s individual activity as the thread.The book show us a tragic love story .A couple who could have a perfect future,but finnally go in opposite direction.As a matter of fact,their charactristics have decided their tragic result inevitably.We feel sorry about the end because we are looking forward to a perfect end,just like Scarlett and Rhett.In fact,ferfect is always a excessive damand.

I affirm Rhett.He brings excitement to Scarlett‟s life and encourages her impulse to change and succeed.Like Scarlett,he goes after what he wants and refuses to take „no‟ for an answer.He is humorous,intelligent and cynical with a hint of treason.He is really a respectable man.I think he finnally left because of love .Otherwise,he couldn‟t have gone without hesitation.

Ashley Wilkes is the foil to Rhett‟s dark, realistic opportunism.If there was no Civil War,he is surely a nobility of grace and charm.But history cannot be changed.He bocame a victim of the war.His era was gone with the defeat of the war.At the same time,we cannot deny the

fact that he had a chear understanding about reality,which just contribute to his tragedy.

In this book,what I appreciate most is not Melanie‟skindness or Rheet‟s dedication and patience,but Scarlett‟s courage to throw her long-standing morality and tradition whe faced with diffiiculties.At the beginning of the war,she didn‟t care about this.In her world are endless dinner parties and dance parties.In her body are her father‟s brave Irish blood and her mother‟s noble French pure blood.She had a vast farm as her home.She had hundreds of slaves.This is Scarlett.,a member of noblity,proud and different.However,the war changed everything.Her mother died of illness.Her father become silent and the farm was nearly deserted.Even food became a big problem.All the pressure was put on Scarlett‟s shoulder.She must feed a family of 9 people in it.What a big difference of level.If all this happened to someone else,he or she may choose to escape.On the contrary,Scarlett choose to face the change of life bravely.How can we not admire her courage of to change herself.Life is like a mountain.The road can‟t be completely smooth.When we fall down from the peak,we may get hert ,we may get disappointed,we may feel despair.But if you want to survive,you must stand up to face it.

It is obvious that <<Gone with the wind>> is really a good book,even if a long time has passed away,it is still suitable for today‟s

society.It is of great importance to change ourselves,change our value even our thoughts when our life chages.

On the other hand,I think there is no real perfect in the world.Everybody has his shortcomings.It is necessary for us to learn to forgive others‟ faults.If we keep good-tempered,Ibelieve there will be more comedy and less tragedy.

Last week, I borrowed a book named "Giving Thanks to Life" from our school library, which was written byJicaiFeng, a famous Chinese author. In general,the book was written for the unfortunate people who suffered in the Great Cultural Revolution.

It was the protagonist's spirit that impressed me most, which inspired us that no matterhow difficult life is, we should try our best to enjoy life and give thanks to life. ”If I’m dying today,I will give my most loyal thanks to life for everything it brings to me;otherwise,it’s my turn to repay life.”This is the protagonist's firm belief and his positive life attitude,which touched me deeply andreminded me of my own life attitude.

Living in this competitive society,I always feel myself in great pressure.As a result,I usually complain all the unhappy things at my hand for a long time.However,since I have read the book,I changed my attitude towards difficulties and frustration.In my opinion,despite of the hardship, life will never despair you.When you are still confused after hardworking,it will pave a road at the tip of your feet automatically.
