翻译笔记：

诗词翻译是一个很容易遭人吐槽的话题……某蕉其实一直倾向于认为诗歌是无法翻译的，并且对所有试图翻译古诗词的人及译本抱着怀疑以及否定的态度——但是面对许渊冲先生这样的大师，某蕉是万万不敢吐槽的。不管怎么说，我们还是从语言学习的角度来欣赏一下大师的译本吧，虽然某蕉自己内心还是……Poetry is the forbidden city for translation。

金风玉露其实就是指代秋天，大家可能不赞同许渊冲先生这里的直译：golden wind，dew of jades，但是某蕉有看过更扯的翻译：celestial winds and dews，还有什么heavenly dew for gods to drink——这个~发挥得太过了吧。许渊冲先生这里一句When Autumn’s Golden wind embraces Dew of Jades，就从字面来看，也还是很有意境很优美的。

忍顾鹊桥归路

某蕉赞同这里没有直接写出magpie bridge，鹊桥——在我们的语境中，“鹊桥”是个很有诗意的画面，而且又和七夕的传说联系在一起，但是文化差异的原因，magpie在英语中并没有什么美好的象征意义，而且老外对七夕的传说基本上也没什么深刻印象，哪怕对此有所了解，也未必就能对“鹊桥”这个词产生审美和诗意的联想。所以许渊冲先生在这里将“鹊桥”虚化成了homeward way：回家的路。其实这里这句“忍顾鹊桥归路”也翻译得相当简单：Can they bear a separate homeward way? 如何能忍受独自归家？就是这个意思。也许homeward这个词有点难想到吧，本身不难的一个词，但是我们也不常用：homeward way=回家之路。

两情若是久长时，又岂在朝朝暮暮

If love between both sides can last for aye，

Why need they stay together night and day?

点睛之笔。其实原句不难，也就是说，如果我们要用英文表达出这个意思，是不难的。这里先不谈整首诗的翻译，如果是在谋和引言中出现这两句，我们自己是可以用简单一点的语言表达出意思，当然如果这里能记住许渊冲先生的译本，以后留作备用是最好啦。

这里last for aye中，aye意为“永远”，古英语，这里用看上去比forever要典雅。除此之外，两句译文也够简单了。七夕节啊，拿这两句英文去骗骗人吧。写在送出去的卡片上，效果一流！

总结：诗歌翻译……吃力不讨好的一件事，吾辈只有仰慕大师的份。

额，话说快过年了实在不该拎出这么个不吉利的字眼来说啊，但是圣人有云：不知生焉知死(诶？跑题了吧？)有句话说的好：Live a good life and die a good death. 生逢其时，死得其所。死生是大事也是小事，无需避讳也无需在意。

7、Bob never has words with his neighbours. 请问此句如何正确翻译？是说Bob从不与邻居讲话吗？嘿嘿，其实说的是Bob从来不与邻居吵架。
