《雾都孤儿英文观后感》

Learn to love and care

Here I am sitting on a couch alone, thinking about what I have just finished reading with tears of sadness filling my eyes and fire of indignation filling my heart, which revived my exhausted soul that has already been covered by the cruelty and the selfishness of the secular world for a long time. It is truly what I felt after reading Oliver Twist, written by the prominent British author Charles Dickens.

The resonance between me and the book makes me feel not only the kindness and the wickedness of all the characters in the novel, but what this aloof society lacks, and what I lack deep inside. These supreme resources I’m talking about right now are somewhat different from minerals, oil that we usually mention. They’re abstract like feelings, and some kinds of spiritual stimulation that all of us desire anxiously from one another —— love and care. Those charitable figures whom Dickens created in the novel are really what we need in life. They showed love and care to others, just as the gentle rain from the sky fell upon the earth, which was carved into my heart deeply. Mr. Brownlow is one such person.

The other day he had one of his elaborate watches stolen

by two skilled teenage thieves, Artful Dodger and Charley Bates, and thought naturally it was Oliver, who was an orphan and forced to live with a gang of thieves, that had done it because he was the only one near by after the theft had taken place. Being wrathful, he caught Oliver, and sent him to the police station where the ill-tempered, unfair magistrates worked. Fortunately for him, Oliver was proved innocent by one onlooker afterwards. With sympathy, Mr. Brownlow took the injured, poor Oliver to his own home. There Oliver lived freely and gleefully for some months as if he were Mr. Brownlow’s own son. One day, however, Mr. Brownlow asked Oliver to return some books to the bookseller and to send some money for the new books that he had already collected. The thief Oliver once stayed with kidnapped him. After that he disappeared in Mr. Brownlow’s life. Searching for a while, Mr. Brownlow had to believe the fact that he had run away with his money. But dramatically, they came across each other again a few years later. Without hesitation, Mr. Brownlow took Oliver home for the second time not caring if he had done something evil.

Perhaps most of us would feel confused about Mr. Brownlow’s reaction. But as a matter of fact, this is just the lesson we should learn from him. Jesus said in the Bible. “Forgive not seven times, but seventy-times seven.” Why is that? Because forgiveness is our ability to remove negative thoughts and neutralize them so our energy may be spent on doing what we came here for. We cannot move forward in our future if past issues cloud our thinking. Stop put Mr. Brownlow into the list of your models. Always give people a second chance no matter what they might have done. That’s also a substantial part of loving and caring others.

then there are Mrs. Maylie and Rose, Oliver’s other benefactors. Maybe the reason they loved and cared Oliver was not because of forgiveness. In my point of view, it was trust. They had faith in Oliver when he was considered to be a filthy burglar who tried to break the front door of Maylie’s at midnight. But this wasn’t how these two ladies saw the whole thing. They denied Oliver’s crime immediately and listened attentively to Oliver’s own description of his miserable life. They were deeply touched by Oliver’s strong perseverance and astonishing vitality.

Accordingly, they remedied Oliver’s body and heart and turned him into a different boy. He began to wear appropriate and clean suits which were tailor-made for him and receive education.

As far as we can see, it is trust that helps us all live together without precaution. Sometimes trust can even lead us to miracles, which we often expect to come about, so why not trust? Trust yourself, trust others, and you’ll salute miracles every single day.

In the novel, though the young Oliver again and again fell for conspiracies of those hideous thieves, who tried to torture Oliver’s body and poisoned Oliver’s heart intensely, he always lived on and tried hard to seek for his own life. Then I realized what supported him all through were actually beliefs. In most cases, what you believe is what you’ll become. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you commit to doing, and when you do, your accomplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs and that is how you ultimately control your life. It’s all dictated by your attitude.

In the final analysis, love and care contain numerous forms, there are love of forgiveness, love of trust, etc. but they all come from your beliefs in life. When someone tells you he’s deceived you, forgive him anyway, when someone tells you what he’s done, trust him anyway, and when you face adversities while chasing your dreams, think about your beliefs, then what hinders you will become a piece of cake in no time.

So find out “Olivers” in your life and do as Mr. Brownlow and Mrs. Maylie do: love them and care them, which cost nothing but save much. They enrich those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. They can be certain smallest words or actions, but the memory of them sometimes last forever.

Charles Dickens said:“Love makes the world go around.” These immortal words have inspired and will keep on inspiring us to chant the melody of love and to say the prayer of care forevermore. Let us, therefore, enjoy life and treat other people lovingly. These principles are the roots and foundations of beliefs supporting this article and our

Finally, because the south west better, tell them overheard a secret, said Mr. Rivers of nathan39; s brother to property, to kill him, hence arrested thieves, but out of sympathy, montefiore eph spared the elder brother. Montefiore eph disaster finally came to an end, he was the first time he stole the old gentleman accept for YiZi. Montefiore eph just know, he stole twice, stolen unexpectedly is his father's friends and his real aunt.

The whole novel tortuous breathtaking, let a person not only for Mr. Rivers sigh, for bad antecedents of anger, be good people said touched, for Mr. Rivers finally happy life and happy. But my favorite character, is in two montefiore eph into danger, as no notice of him of stealing, but very sympathized with him, and

helping his two men. For their goodness, Mr. Rivers to be saved, but also because of their kind, just make the world less a

suffering child, is less a thief in the future, many a good man. If worldly people want to them the same thing, I think, the world will not have the affliction of the afflicted, won't have so many

orphans. As a song in sung by: "only everyone is given their love, the world will become a better human." And I also for the south west touched, she is a molecular thieves, but she has not been thieves dyed black heart; she knew repentance, know to pity an orphan. But she is also is the good person touched, visible if one more good people, perhaps can influence a in the moment of thieves and a little bit of human hearts. But, I also for Nancy have sorrow, she finally ending very miserably, she was killed, and killed her people, it is she has been reluctant to leave. Nancy have many chances to escape from that dirty world, but she gave up, is loathe to give up that last killed her.

The hero of this novel was Oliver Twist, an orphan, who was thrown into a world full of poverty and crime. He suffered enormous pain, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt for the poor boy, but at the same time I detested the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as was written in all the best stories, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a happy life in the end. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness', they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.

Francis Bacon said in his essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and

dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.'

That is to say a person without goodness is destined to lose everything. Therefore, I, a kind person, want to tell those

'vermin-to-be' to learn from the kind Oliver and regain the nature of goodness.

This is a really great book, you should read it.

Oliver Twist

Oliver Twist is a novel written by Chales Dikens .It mainly describes a little boy’s tough experiences .This novel reveals the author’s attitude towards life in some point .

Oliver Twist was an orphan who was brought up by Shelia who lived in hospice. Oliver was regarded as a bastard, which resulted lots of discrimination.

In the foster home , he was on behalf of children to ask for more

porridge ,which considered as a kind rude and unpolite behavior .He was confined for several days and came across another suffering .

Mr Bumble sent him to a coffin maker. In this plot ,I was attracted by the man Mr Noah who was also a servant .He played tricks on Oliver to grab some external fun .He deliberately said Oliver’s mother was a bitch who had a child without marriage .

This kind of writing is advanced .It satirized the dark

society .people’s ignorance trapped kind people all the time .In contrast,Oliver , a naive boy who existed in a horrible

environment ,always kept good honest.Although he knew nothing about his mother ,he persisted in beliving his mother’s kindness.A little boy owned those good quality in dark society is doubted. But it reflects the author’s opinion .Love makes the world go around . This topic was proved though the novel.

In an anthor plot ,Oliver entered a haunt of thieves by accident.A girl names Nacy rejected Mr Brownlow’s help .She had no courage to leave the haunt where people had the same fate ,especially his beloved boy Sikes. In the end ,she was beaten to death .And this plot is the trasition .It hinted that bad people are destined to compensate .

For Oliver’s kindness ,he finally led a happy life with many kindhearted people’s help .

This consequence accords with people’s common

criterion .Temporarily difficulities is not terrible as long as you

reasonably deal with it .And success is on the way .What’s more ,we should always put love in the bottom of hearts.

《雾都孤儿英文观后感》

Review of the Oliver Twist

Recently I saw a film called “ Oliver Twist”, a long time ago, I also read the English version of this book. Although the film reduce a lot of the details compared with the original book, but I still shocked by the story again. When reading, I have to imagine all sorts of stories that are happening, while the film gave me a specific picture, I can deeply realize the experience of the protagonist. This film is mainly about a orphan called "Oliver Twist" after many hardships, eventually adopted by a good man, lived a happy life from now on. Then I will simply from several story talk about my thoughts.

The film according to British writer Dickens 1838 classic“ Oliver Twist” adaptation. The story took place in 19th Century in the United Kingdom. On a foggy night, only nine year old orphan Oliver was from a ranch back to the church -- this is the place where he was born. Overcast weather, also means the beginning of his misery for the next. Shortly after the film began, a scene is very heartache. A large group of orphans squeezed in child labor field pick oakum, they working from day to night, every meal can only drink a bowl of thin batter. In order to ask for more food, the orphans came up with the idea of the draw, who draw the short hemp rope, who was responsible for the request to the steward, poor Oliver did not understand this rule, taken the shortest one, therefore he was badly beaten up, and to be ejected from the workhouse, was assigned to the other place to work. But when the clerk to report to the superior the event, that Oliver want some more after his dinner, the picture in the church staff table, a sumptuous dinner meal. This detail show the hierarchical Britain in the 19th century, the law of the jungle, cold-blooded, and the basement class people’s tragedy.

The door of the church posted a free advertisement about child labor, and soon a brush chimney to receive the child labor, the blackened people frightened Oliver, fortunately, Oliver cries touched Mr. signed agreement, he hasn’t been away. But soon, he was bought by the coffin shop boss with 5 pounds, Oliver worked hard here, but to eat dog food, sleep in a coffin. Even so, he was not a word of complain, every day to do his work earnestly. However, the coffin shop a much older than his buddy Noah always bully him, insult him. One day he said Oliver's mother is a bad woman, it was annoyed Oliver, he like crazy rushed to the Noah’s body a whale. Oliver was also beaten up and then sneaked out of the coffin shop. Came to a crossroads, write to London, which also had the rest of the story plot, his suffering and his twist of fate. In this plot, the coffin shop Mr Sur Berrie was trying to help the orphan Oliver Twist, but his ability is limited.

Two stories happened on the way to London also let me memorable. Oliver first came to the roadside a courtyard, want to some water or food, but the male host like a stray dog, cursed at him. The other one is when he’s walking with shoes were worn out, worn out faint, a kindly old woman and picked him back, gave him the fire, though the old woman was very poor, but cooked noodles for him to eat, saved him, let him have energy to go through the end of the next road. It tells us no matter we live in what kind of age, no matter in what situation, don't forget our kind nature,

perhaps a kind of our behavior will bring positive impact on others in the future.

Oliver experienced difficulty finally came to London, but unfortunately he fell into a den of thieves. Oliver knew nothing, he thought they provide him with accommodation and food is the man who is kind-hearted, he thought the training steal game really is just a fun game. Until one day he was taken to the streets of London to steal when he knew it was a group of evil thief, he was shocked, was caught by the police court. The kind bookstore boss who witnessed the incident proved Oliver is innocent and took him, because Mr Brown thinks Oliver is a kind-hearted, pure but tragic fate child. Originally, oliver can live a happy life, but the bad guy Fagin sent for Oliver and rob to return to the den of evil. Oliver tortured, but he wouldn't do bad things. Later Fagin and his partner Bill forced Oliver to Mr Brown's house to steal, Oliver came in the room shouting, awakened by the housekeeper and Mr. Brown, Bill shot and wounded Oliver, and took the injured Oliver back to Fagin there.

This group of thieves actually are some homeless orphans, when they were children was adopted by Fagin. Fagin exhausted mind to taught them the skills to steal something, and then forced them to steal into the street every day. They stolen jewelry and belongings had been confiscated Fagin, secretly hide. These children had no way to get rid of control of Fagin, originally pure soul was slowly decay, more and more bad dry, but they also have a good side. Bill’s maid, Nancy very sympathetic to Oliver encounter, she secretly told Mr Brown Fagin and Bill’s identity and address , let him to report to the police to save Oliver. However, after coming home, she was been beaten to death by Bill who had known the truth. The police came, Fagin and the thieves were caught. Bill picked up the Oliver from the window jumped on the roof, threatening the police to put Oliver thrown down, he used a rope from the head down to the other buildings on the roof, just to be untied the rope, foot slipped, rope buckle just trap his neck, he was suspended strangled in mid-air. Oliver was rescued, he went back to the side of Mr Brown, really lived a happy life. Although by Fagin’s torture, the kind Oliver still to the prison to visit this heinous villain, and pray for him and hope God can forgive him.

This is a touching movie. It describes the tragic life of street children to us, they are helpless, living on the streets, bullied, insulted by people, they like boat without sails, don’t know the direction, no goal, expose to wind and rain, once they are used by the bad people, from the wreck a life. Here the protagonist, brave, strong, not afraid of difficulties, gratitude. In those days, can have a such boy after the experience which is not a young child should be encountered, also can have a pure, gratitude is how precious. Oliver is worth all of us admire. When others said ill of his mother, he has courage to fight with others for the maintenance of his mother; when faced with the hard life, he has a strong survived; when adopted by the bad guy, he remembered the bad man for his good; when the bad man in jail, he also visited the bad man.

There are many touched me places in this movie, but the one of the most touched me is that the man for the adoption of Oliver, he doesn't look like anyone else selfish, anything to think about only their own interests, don’t consider other people. He cares about Oliver, when Oliver is in danger, he will be filled with anxiety. His concerns for

Oliver is supposed the parents to be given. In a sense, he is completely acted as the role of Oliver,s father. Not only he just gave Oliver a good living conditions, but also careful nurtured him, he was full of hope to Oliver. He is kind, compassionate, and I am very grateful for his actions. In addition, I also touched by what the criminals said to Oliver at the end, he said to Oliver, hurry up, faster, faster, perhaps hoping the protagonist to forget the past and start a new life!

Also let me memorable plot is the last scene of the movie, when Oliver going to prison see Fagin who had taught him to steal. When I was saw this scene, I particularly don’t understand, why do him want to go to see him. If Oliver didn’t know them, maybe he without suffering a series of later experienced. But I ignored the point, if there is no Fagin and the Dodger who gave him food and shelter, perhaps he would have starved to death. Although the motivation of these people is bad in the beginning, they want to train him to become a good thief, but they gave him the hope of life in his dying occasion. Oliver is so kind, have a heart of gratitude, he only remember Fagin kind for him. Fagin in prison has the spirit is not normal, but when he said to Oliver:“ I'll kind for you”, suddenly stretched out his arms and hugged him, this action shocked me, I don’t know what kind of mood he was out of at that time, but let me feel this bad guy Fagin who made lots of children to the way of stealing, at least he has a bit of emotional for Oliver in a moment. I think, no matter heinous person may also have so a little bit kindness. Oliver finally let Fagin pray with him together, this kind of children hope this prayer can make Fagin get the God forgiveness.

《雾都孤儿读后感英文版》

The feelings after reading Oliver Twist Oliver Twist is based on the experience of its author Charles Dickens, who wrote many popular novels such as Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities, A Christmas Carol, David Copperfield, Bleak House and so on. And the book is mainly about the experience of an orphan named Oliver.

Oliver’s mother dies just after his birth, so he has to spend his first nine years in a badly run home for young orphans and then is transferred to a workhouse for adults. After the other boys bully him into asking for more gruel at the end of a meal, the parish beadle, Mr. Bumble, offers five pounds to anyone who will take the boy away from the workhouse. Oliver narrowly escapes being apprenticed to a brutish chimney sweep and is eventually apprenticed to Mr. Sowerberry who is a undertaker. Oliver attacks his other apprentice because the guy makes disparaging comments about his mom, and he incurs the Sowerberrys’ wrath. Desperate, Oliver runs away and travels towards London.

Oliver is starved and exhausted when he meets Jack Dawkins, who talks and dresses like a grown man though

he isn’t older than Oliver. Jack offers Oliver shelter in the London house of his benefactor, Fagin. It turns out that Fagin is a career criminal who trains orphan children to pick pockets for him. After a few days of training, Oliver is sent on a pickpocketing mission with two other boys. When he sees them swipe a handkerchief from an elderly gentleman, Oliver feels horrified and runs off. He is caught but narrowly escapes being convicted of the theft. Mr. Brownlow, whose handkerchief was stolen, takes the feverish Oliver to his home and nurses him back to health. Mr. Brownlow is struck by Oliver’s resemblance to a portrait of a young woman that hangs in his house. Oliver blossoms himself there, but two adults in Fagin’s gang, Bill Sikes and his lover Nancy, capture Oliver and return him to Fagin.

Fagin sends Oliver to assist Sikes in a burglary. Oliver is shot by a servant of the house and is taken in by two women, Mrs. Maylie and her adopted niece Rose. They grow fond of Oliver and spend an idyllic summer with him in the countryside. But Fagin and a mysterious man named Monks are set to recapture him. Meanwhile, it is revealed that Oliver’s mother left behind a gold locket

when she died. Monks obtains and destroys it. When the Maylies come to London, Nancy meets secretly with Rose and informs her of Fagin’s designs, but a member of Fagin’s gang overhears the conversation. When word of Nancy’s disclosure reaches Sikes, he brutally murders Nancy and flees London. Pursued by his guilty conscience and an angry mob, he inadvertently hangs himself.

With the Maylies’ help, Mr. Brownlow confronts Monks and wrings the truth about Oliver’s parentage from him. It is revealed that Monks is Oliver’s half brother. Their father, Mr. Leeford, was unhappily married to a wealthy woman and had an affair with Oliver’s mother Agnes Fleming. Mr. Brownlow forces him to sign over Oliver’s share to Oliver. Moreover, it is discovered that Rose is Agnes’ younger sister, hence Oliver’s aunt. Fagin is hung for his crimes. Finally, Mr. Brownlow adopts Oliver, and they retire to a blissful existence in the countryside with the Maylies.

After reading the book Oliver Twist, I don’t think Oliver is a believable character. Although he is raised in corrupt surroundings, his purity and virtue are absolute. On the other hand, Oliver speaks in proper King’s English while

other pauper children use rough Cockney slang.

Compared with Oliver, I appreciate the character Nancy more. She is immersed in the vices condemned by her society, but she also commits perhaps the most noble act when she sacrifices her own life in order to protect Oliver. Nancy’s moral complexity is unique among the major characters in Oliver Twist. The novel is full of characters who are all good and can barely comprehend evil, such as Oliver, Rose and Mr. Brownlow, and characters who are all evil and can barely comprehend good, such as Fagin, Sikes and Monks. Only Nancy comprehends and is capable of both good and evil. Her ultimate choice to do good at a great personal cost is a strong argument in favor of incorruptibility of basic goodness, no matter how many environmental obstacles it may face. Nancy’s love for Sikes exemplifies the moral ambiguity of her character. As she herself points out to Rose, devotion to a man can be “a comfort and a pride” under the right circumstances. But for Nancy, such devotion is “a new means of violence and suffering”—indeed, her relationship with Sikes leads her to criminal acts for his sake and eventually to her own demise. The

same behavior, in different circumstances, can have very different consequences and moral significance. In much of Oliver Twist, morality and nobility are black-and-white issues, but Nancy’s character suggests that the boundary between virtue and vice is not always clearly drawn.

To be honest, Oliver Twist is worth reading.

Oliver Twist

Recently, I read a book “Oliver Twist” written by Charles Dickens. I feel moved by the complex plot. Now I want to share it with you.

Oliver Twist was born in a workhouse in 1830s. His mother was found on the street and died just after his birth. Oliver spent his first 9 years in a badly ruin home for orphans. And then he was luckily transferred to a workhouse for adults. The other boys forced him to ask for some more food after meals, which results the owner wants to sell Oliver at a low price, 5 dollars. One day, a boy speaks ill words about Oliver’s mother. He is so angry that he attacks the boy and he is punished. Desperate, he runs away at dawn and travels toward London.

Outside London, Oliver starved and exhausted, meets Fagin. He offers Oliver shelter in the London house. In fact, Fagin is a cheat who often persuade orphan boy to pick pockets for him. After a few days of training, he fails in stealing a gentleman named Brownlow. But in return, the man takes Oliver to his home and takes cares of him. He treats him as like his son. Oliver feels so lucky and grateful. Unfortunately, Oliver is caught back to Fagin. After a long sad life, Oliver runs away and he is adopted by Rose. The Roses help Oliver find Brownlow.

To identify Oliver’s identity, Brownlow helps him to find Mons, Oliver’s half brother. Actually, their father was unhappily married a wealthy woman and had an affair with Oliver’s mother. When he dies, he leaves Oliver some money.

When everything comes to an end, Brownlow adopts Oliver, and they moved to the countryside and live a happy life.

From the book , I can draw a conclusion “The god is fair ." We should be grateful to our lives . But in this busy society, we should avoid negative people, places and habits. We are living for not only ourselves but also others. We should be warm-hearted and everyone will be ready to help others for return. Just host on to one’s dream and try to realize it. Concentrate your energy, thought and capital upon your dream. “No one can cheat you out of your happiness but yourselves. “

In a word ,‘To be yourself ,to be happy ’
