Narrator:Summary: The play describes the transformation of a girl's personality from being hostile to being understanding. Emily, a child in Taipei, always took a hostile attitude toward others. One day, she fell into a story, "The Wizard of OZ," and joined the journey to find the Wizard with Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin man, and Lion. Due to Emily's personality, she did not keep good company with them.Several days later, Emily met a witch and followed the witch's direction to put Dorothy in a dangerous situation. Within a battle, Lion died for her. Then Emily finally knew that there is love among people. Since then, Emily became a new person--a lovely, charming girl all her life.

Part I Place : Emily's house

Characters : Emily; Emily's sister; Emily's mom

E: You took my money, didn't you?

E's S: No, ~ didn't. You're always thinking about money. I didn't take it. You lost it. E: No, I didn't.

E's S: Mommy!

E's M: Emily, don't hit your sister.

E: She stole my money.

E's M: I think you should stay in your room for the day and think about how you treat others.

E: I hate everybody. They're always cheating me out of my money.

E: I'm bored. What's this book?

E: What's going on? I'm scared. Mommy!

Narrator: Suddenly, there is a big flash and Emily is gone. All that is left is "The Wizard of OZ" lying on the bed, the pages fluttering as the wind dies down.

Part II

Place : OZ

Characters : Emily [女子名] 埃米莉， Scarecrow（稻草人）, Dorothy [女子名] 多萝西 , Lion（狮子）, and Tin man（铁皮人）

Narrator: Emily wakes up to find herself in a beautiful village. The sunshine covers the farm and the sunflowers swing（摇摆） in golden waves（在微风中）. People there

are always smiling and everyone can see that They're radiant （['reidiənt]adj.喜悦的）with happiness. What lovely（令人愉快）, peaceful village it is.

D: Hi, who are you?

E: Emily. Where am I?

D: You're in OZ, Emily. Uh, did you get lost?

E: No, uh ….... yeah. I don't exactly know what happened.

D: So, where're you going?

E: I want to go home.

D: Where?

E: Taipei. Do you know how to get there?

D: Well... it sounds very far.

S: Why are you here? Why aren't you staying at home?

E: I'd rather be home if I could.

D: Would you like to come with us and find the Wizard ['wizəd]男巫? I'm sure he can help you.

S: Oh, you have a wish too? What do you want? A beautiful house? A lovely doll? Or...

E: Would you please stop asking those stupid questions? （要表情）

D: Don't be so horrible, Emily. Scarecrow['skeə,krəʊ]doesn't have a brain, and that's why he joined us.

E: (shows contempt轻视轻蔑) 表情

D: So, let's go find our partners. Go!

D: She's Emily, our friend from... another place.

E: So, what do you need? A more fashionable appearance? (Knock) Wow, cool. What's this? This sounds funny.

T: Because my body is empty. I don't have a heart.

S: Emily, leave him alone.

D: Un.......Lion, don't we have enough money to buy any bread?

L: No, we sure don't.

D: Do you have any money, Emily? We need to buy some food.

L: Even though you're very unfriendly, Emily, we still want you to come with us and find the Wizard.

F: No, I don't want to go with you any more.

L: Well, the only way you can get back home is to follow us.

E: I'd better go with them.

Narrator: After walking for several more hours, they find themselves in the middle of an old forest. It's very dark and scary ['skeəri:], and everyone is close together.

W: Ah, Emily. I hear that you would like to get back to Taipei.

E: Yeah, how do you know? W: I keep an eye on 留心things that happen in OZ. I know that they don't like you, Emily. I like you, and I'll help you get back to Taipei.

E: Wow, but, how?

W: Well, I know that Dorothy likes to eat apples. So, I want you to give her this special apple, OK? It's her favorite kind.

E: OK, as long as you help me get back home.

W: Yes, of course. Just make sure you give it to her. Make more sure that she eats it.

E: OK.

E: Dorothy, Dorothy...

D: Has she gone?

E: Mm, I want to say sorry, Dorothy. I got you this apple.

D: For me? Thank you. My favorite.

D: Delicious... I feel sleepy. I want to lie down. （要动作）

W: Well done, Emily. Now I've got Dorothy at last.

E: Can I go back to Taipei now?

W: Don't be so stupid, Emily. Do you really think I was going to help you? You should never trust anyone.

W: The Wizard is sick. I'm his sister. I know who you all are. I've been watching you all along the path of Yellow Brick Road. And now you've found me. I'd like to reward you all. To you, Mr.

Scarecrow, I'll give you brain.

S: A brain?

E: One and one is...

S: Two.

She wants to get the powerful pair of red slippers of the dead witch. And the slippers now are on Dorothy’s feet.[the witch says, I’ll get you. I’ll get the slippers. Just wait, my sweetie, just when you are on my way. Ahhhhh] when the wicked witch has gone, another witch who is good and kind told Dorothy to go to the Emerald City and get the Wizard of Oz to help her go home. So the journey starts!(exit)

[lights on]

DOROTHY（enters from the right side of the stage）：Follow the Yellow Brick Road? Follow the Yellow....?（puzzled when facing two roads）Now which way shall I go?

SCARECROW (right arm points to right) That way is a very nice way.

DOROTHY (whirls about and looks at him, a bit frightened as she looks about him): Who said that? ( whirls and turns her back to the SACRECROW)

SCARECROW (points to left with his other arm): It's pleasant down that way, too.

DOROTHY (quickly turns back): That's funny. Wasn't he pointing the other way?

SCARECROW (crosses his arms and points in both directions): Of course, people do go both ways!

DOROTHY: Why.... (steps forward to the SCARECROW) you did say something, didn't you?

[The Scarecrow shakes his head, then nods ]

DOROTHY: Are you doing that on purpose, or can't you make up your mind?

SCARECROW (shows his straw head) That's the trouble. I can't make up my mind. I haven't got a brain -- only straw.

DOROTHY( she steps up to the Scarecrow): Well, we haven't really met properly, have we? SCARECROW: Why, no.

DOROTHY (curtsies): How do you do?

SCARECROW (nods): How do you do?

DOROTHY: Very well, thank you.

SCARECROW: Oh, I'm not feeling at all well. You see, it's very tedious being stuck up here all day long with a pole up your back.

DOROTHY: Oh, dear -- that must be terribly uncomfortable. Can't you get down? (moves to Scarecrow’s back)

SCARECROW: Down? No, you see, I'm -- Well, -- I'm --

DOROTHY: Oh, well, here -- let me help you.

[Dorothy looses the string and the Scarecrow falls to the ground]

DOROTHY: Oh -- does it hurt you?

[the Scarecrow falls down again and Dorothy runs to help him]

DOROTHY:Oh! Oh! Ohhh!

SCARECROW: Did I scare you?

DOROTHY: That's where I live. And I want to get back there so badly I'm going all the way to Emerald City to get the Wizard of Oz to help me.

SCARECROW: You're going to see a Wizard?

DOROTHY: Um-hmm.

SCARECROW: Do you think if I went with you this Wizard would give me some brains? DOROTHY:I couldn't say. But even if he didn't, you'd be no worse off than you are now. SCARECROW: Yes -- that's true.

DOROTHY: But maybe you'd better not. I've got a witch mad at me, and you might get into trouble.

SCARECROW: Witch? Huh! I'm not afraid of a witch! I'm not afraid of anything --- (whisper) except a lighted match.

DOROTHY: I don't blame you for that.

SCARECROW: But I'd face a whole box full of them forthe chance of getting some brains. Look -- I won't be any trouble, because I don't eat a thing -- and I won't try to manage things, because I can't think. Won't you take me with you?

[Dorothy and the Scarecrow rise from the road -- the Scarecrow jumps

[Dorothy and Scarecrow walks on the road from the left side of the stage. Dorothy sees some apple trees and she picks one apple reacts as the tree takes the apple back and slaps Dorothy's hand]

DOROTHY: Oh -- apples -- Oh look! Oh. Oh ---Ouch!

TREE: What do you think you're doing?

DOROTHY: We've been walking a long ways and I was hungry and -- Did you say something? TREE:Shewas hungry! Well, how would you like to have someone come along and pick something off of you?

DOROTHY: Oh, dear -- I keep forgetting I'm not in Kansas.

SCARECROW: Come along, Dorothy -- you don't want any of those apples. Hmm!

FIRST TREE: What do you mean - she doesn't want any of those apples? Are you hinting my apples aren't what they ought to be?

SCARECROW: Oh, no! It's just that she doesn't like little green....

[The Tree reacts, makes a grab for the two ]

SCARECROW: ...worms!

TREE: Oh....

TREE:...you...[the trees scratches out]

SCARECROW: Go -- Go! [he and Dorothy runs backwards]

TREE:...Oh -- Help -- let me out. I'll give you little green worms.

SCARECROW (whisper to Dorothy): I'll show you how to get apples.(make faces at the trees)

[The trees wind up, throw apples ]

SCARECROW: Hooray! Hooray! I guess that did it! Help yourself.

DOROTHY: Oh --

[They picks apples. Dorothy goes forward and she sees a tin foot. She knocks on it and lifts her head and stands up. The tin man seems to want to say something.]

DOROTHY: Why, it's a man! A man made out of tin!

SCARECROW: What?

DOROTHY: Yes. Oh -- look --

TIN MAN: Oil can.....Oil can....

DOROTHY: Did you say something?

TIN MAN: Oil can....

SCARECROW: Oil can what?

DOROTHY: Oil can? Oh -- oh, here it is! (picks up the oil can) Where do you want to be oiled first?

TIN MAN: My mouth -- my mouth!

SCARECROW: He said his mouth.

DOROTHY: Here -- here --

SCARECROW: The other side....

DOROTHY: Yes --- there.

TIN MAN: Mm.....mm...mm....my, my, my, my goodness -- I can talk again! Oh -- oil my arms, please – oil my elbows.

[Dorothy lowers the right arm of the Tin Man]

TIN MAN: Oh --

DOROTHY:...Oh, did that hurt?

TIN MAN:No -- it feels wonderful. I've held that axe up for ages.

DOROTHY: Oh, goodness! How did you ever get like this?

TIN MAN: Oh -- well, about a year ago -- I was chopping that tree when suddenly it started to rain and right in the middle of a chop, I...I rusted solid. And I've been that way ever since. DOROTHY: Well, you're perfect now.

TIN MAN: My...my neck. My...my neck.[Scarecrow oils his neck] Perfect? Oh-- bang on my chest if you think I'm perfect. Go ahead -- bang on it!

SCARECROW: Beautiful! What an echo!

TIN MAN: It's empty. The tinsmith forgot to give me a heart.

(points at the Scarecrow) Or I'll stuff a mattress with you! (points at the tin man) And you! I'll use you for a bee-hive! (laughs, throws a ball of fire道具准备红色物体 to the Scarecrow) Here, Scarecrow!
