Philosophers of Ancient China

Ancient China was a palce where states were often at war with each other. But it was also a time when there were many great philosophers. Confucius(孔子) ( 551BC --- 479BC ) is the philosopher whose influence has been the greatest. He stressed the importance of kindness, duty and oder in society. Chinese society was influenced by these ideas for more than 2000 years. Mencius(孟子) was a thinker whose teachings were very similar to those of Confucius. Mencius was born in 372BC. His father died when he was young, and he was brought up by his mother. He became a student of Confucius’s ideas, and was then given an important position in the government of a state. However, when he saw that the ruler was not following his advice, he resigned. For many years he travelled from state to state, teaching the principles of Confucius. He then became an adviser to another ruler. He spent his last years preparing a book of his teachings called The Book of Mencius. Mencius believed that the reason why man is different from animals is that man is good. He taught that if the government was kind, then people would be good. He believed that people were more important than rulers, and hated the state when it treated people badly. Mozi(墨子) was another teacher who was very influential. Born in 476BC, he came from a family which was very poor. He became famous for his unusual clothes and behaviour. Mozi founded the philosophy called Mohism. In some ways, his beliefs were similar to those of Confucius. For example, he considered that government was most important. As a result, he spent many years trying to find a state where people would follow his teachings. Mozi believed that all men were equal. His idea of love was different from the Confucian idea of kindness. Mozi taught that we should love all human beings and look after those who are weaker than ourselves. He hated the idea of war. Mozi died in 390BC.

Step1: Leading-in activities. (背景导入)

1:关于3个哲学观点中英连线导出本文的3个主人公和其主要学说。

2:图片和文字展示三位主人公的简要信息并再次熟悉文中新词。

Step2: Fast--reading.(速读)

1:速读文章选择文章大意。

2:学生小组交流并展示做题技巧。

3:教师点拨:选择或写出文章大意要关注2点:1):课文标题 2): 段落主题句 Step3: Careful--reading. (细读短文,回答问题)

分2大块细读文章。

一:第一和第二2段文章。

1:浏览学案上的练习后静静读前2段文章,并完成学案上的阅读练习。

2:任务分组,小组讨论得出答案和做题技巧。

3:答案和做题技巧展示。

4:教师点拨:

A:如何用自己的语言表达段落大意:

1):找出段落主题句。 2):改造主题句形成自己的答案。 3):尽量少用文章原句。 B:如何应对阅读表达中的同义句替换:

1):形似:找文中和所列句子相同的词或同义词最多的句子。

2):核对2句所表达的意思是否一致。

二:第三段文章。

1:浏览学案上的练习后静静读第3段文章,并完成学案上的阅读练习。

2:学生自由展示答案和做题技巧。

3:教师点拨:

考试中的选择题:

1) 先看题目要求。

2) 带着题目要求,心中有目的阅读 。

3) 出现该题处标记并研究得出答案。

Step4: Post--reading. (整体把握)

1:做3个选择题并找出自己做题的依据。

2:学生小组交流并展示做题技巧。

3:教师点拨:1):Number can talk 2): infer 意思是:推理。

Step5: Exercise.(巩固练习)

根据剩余时间可以选择3部分中的部分内容,其它作为家庭作业。

1:完成填空练习。

2:带学生复述文章同时核对答案,然后学生齐读复述。

3:任务分组或自愿展示,挑战记忆速度,巩固今天所学。
