My university life

We will never forget our freshman year at college. In general it is a time filled with anticipation, some anxiety, and wonderful discoveries.

College is much different than high school. You may decide to commute from your home to a local campus. Without doubt, the most dramatic freshman year is for those living away from home. What can we expect as we head off into the wonderful world of higher education?

The first thing I notice is the workload. It is heavier and more intense than I ever experienced before. The major challenges of college work are large

volume of reading, short deadlines, and “endless” writing. A related effect that can be brought on by the workload is doubt, frustration, and loneliness if possible.

On some of those long, seemingly endless nights of studying and writing, it will be very natural for me to long for fine old days. Hang in there. These down periods will pass.

I have made a lot of new friends. I am sure college friendships will be among the most satisfying and long-term in my life. It's always exciting to discover how wonderfully diverse college relationships can be.

I am enjoying my newfound freedom. Stay up until dawn talking about my ideals and ambitions with my dorm's regular bull session buddies. Sleep in until the afternoon on a light class day. Explore the local town or suburbs with one or two of my new friends.

I even start to think about my future. Going to college is as much about finding out who am I as it is about getting the degree.

To be honest, there are some things I don’t deal with properly. For instance, once I spent nearly a whole day playing computer games. Should College Students Be Allowed to Skip Classes?

Should college students be allowed to skip classes? Our school regulatiom handbook says no. However, in my opinion, college students should have the right to do so. First and foremost, we should bear in mind the purpose of students' attending classes—to gain more knowledge and skills. Generally speaking, going to classes is a good and irreplaceable way for students to obtain knowledge. However, sometimes students can benefit more if they skip certain classes, for example, when they are not in the right mood for classes at some particular moment, or when do need some sleep that provides them with necessary energy for more important things later that day, or when they have to do something more important at that specific time. That is to say, when students cannot learn efficiently in classes, why must they attend them? Of course, if students are not familiar with the content of the missed class, they should make up for it. Another reason why college students can skip classes is that some of them deem skipping class as a means of alternative education.(deem„as将„看作) Almost all the college students are over 18 and they have formed good sense

of judgement to consider what is good and what is bad for themselves. They know for what and for whom they are studying, and they are able to make sensible decision whether to skip a particular class or not. making students and teachers difficult to choose. Besides, reference books also bring bad influence to students and teachers.

For one thing, with the help of reference books, students are inclined to think about the questions less. Owing to the elaborate explanations given by reference books, many students will adopt the answers in reference books directly without thinking independently. And in a long term, students will rely on the reference books too much and lower their thinking ability. For another, reference books limit teachers’ thinking model to some extent because some teachers rely on reference books too much. Depending on reference books is not good for teachers’ breaking through the traditional teaching model and thinking model.

Increase Attendence Rate in College

Low attendance rate has been a big problem among colleges and

universities. To avoid this problem and finish their teaching tasks, different teachers come up with various methods.There are two common methods as following.

The most common-used method is to call over. Teachers call over each class or after an interval of one or two classes and write down the names of the absent students. And usually, if someone’s name is written down more than three times, they will lose their qualification in taking part in the final exam of this class, which means they need to repeat the class next time. Another

method usually used in smaller classes is to ask questions at random. Teachers

will ask some students to answer the questions to check if they attend the class.

However, even though these methods force students to attend the classes and increase the attendance rate to some extent, it doesn't solve the problem throughout. In my opinion, the most important point is that teacher should improve their teaching skills, break through traditional teaching model and try to make their classes more active and interesting so that students will attend the classes of their own accord. Meantime, students should try to improve their self-discipline ability and learn to appreciate the advantages of their teachers.

然而，尽管这些方法可以强迫学生去上课而且出勤率在某种程度上也有所增长，但这并不能彻底地解决问题。我觉得最重要的一点是教师要提高他们的教学技能，突破传统的教学模式，来使他们的课变得更生动有趣，这样学生们才会主动去上课。同时，学生应该努力提高自己的自律能力并学会欣赏他们老师的优点。

Skipping classes is quite common in college campus in that students have more freedom on college than ever before. But why do they want to skip classes? Different students have different reasons concerning it.

在大学中逃课是很常见的，因为学生们在大学中得到的自由比以往都要多。但是为什么他们要逃课？对于这一问题不同的学生有不同的原因。

There are some reasons given by some students. First, some students skip their classes just because they don’t like the classes. They think that some classes are quite boring and time-wasting, as well as they can’t learn a lot from the classes. Therefore, they skip this kind of classes to study individually. This is one of the reasons for high absence rate in some public courses. Second, many students skip their classes because they lack of self-discipline and are indulged in other things, such as playing online games. They cannot control themselves well and finally lost their aim and motivation to learn. In addition, oversleeping and being ill are also the reasons for class absence. They consider that their absence will not be noticed if they teachers don’t call over.

但我会在心里对自己说：“只有记住这些路，才能走好以后的路”。　　生活总是在不断的追求中度过。回首过去一年的大学生活，我经历过失败的痛苦，品尝过成功的喜悦，正是在这种不断追求生活目标的过程中，让我感受到了大学生活的丰富多彩：参加各种社团活动，举办各种专业比赛，组织各种旅游活动……它们充实了我大学生活中的每一天，给了我追求的源动力。　　生活是有目标的，而目标就是我们的希望。生活中最可贵的财富是希望，希望将给自己的生活带来永久的乐趣与动力。在生活的画卷中，偶尔抹上一道灰色，并不预示着失败与沉沦，重要的是，能在灰色中提取绿色的希望。任何时候我都会怀着美好的希望去面对我的大学生活，因为我懂得：虽然生活的征程有时会坎坷不平，然而，希望的大门对任何人总是永远敞开的！　　我热爱自己的大学生活，无论是遭遇曲折还是赢得胜利，我都会用一颗平常的心去坦然面对。因为我知道，只有懂得生活的人才能领悟人生的真谛，微笑着去生活，生活也会对你报以微笑。懂得生活的人，能领悟到花的娇艳；懂得友爱的人，能领悟到他人心中的芬芳。一个人的成长，离不开朋友的帮助与关怀，把友谊留在身边，无论走多远，我依然拥有蔚蓝的天空。很高兴自己在大学中能结交这么多意趣相投的朋友，是他们，在我失意，沉思的时候，给我清新的思想，无尽的力量，温馨的暖流。是他们，让我感觉到了集体的温暖，团结的力量，真挚的友爱。“人生得一知己足矣，斯世当以同怀视之”，我会珍惜所拥有的友谊，用真心去浇灌友谊之花，让它盛开在我的心灵深处，让流水冲走一切烦恼，让真诚加深我们的情谊。　　在大学生活中，学习将是我的主旋律，我要勤学广识，将“业精于勤荒于嬉，行成于思毁于随”铭记心中，去充实，丰富自己的知识，学好专业技能，并将所学理论知识转化为具体的实践，不断超越自我，完善自我，用知识的风帆来鼓动心灵之舟，使自己迈向人生的成功之旅。　　知识的获得通过教育，经验的积累通过实践。让自己的思绪随文字自由的飘飞，心中怀着美好的理想，去寻找属于自己的空间。而理想的琴，须拨动奋斗的弦，才能奏出大学生活中美妙动听的乐章，因此在追求理想的征程中，我要用获得理论与付出实践的交替，点缀出自己多姿多彩的大学生活，从而在大学的生活中，构筑自己幸运的大厦。　　在这凉风习习的夜色里，在这月光融融的大学校园里，想着和同学们和睦相处，团结互助，以舒畅的心情，平常的心态，去诠释着爱的
